The sleeve has been used regularly by patients since 1995, with excellent results. Figure 1 shows the results from one of the first patients treated with the ReidSleeve. She had lymphedema present for many years that had not responded well to wraps or pumps. The circumference of her affected arm was 2 to 4 inches larger than the unaffected arm. After 2 weeks of treatment her arm was significantly smaller and was nearly normal by 8 to 12 weeks.
  Clinicals / Case Studies
Results of treatment with the ReidSleeve.
Results in patients with moderate to severe edema.
Even patients with moderate to severe edema can see results in days and have dramatic results in weeks. Figure 2 shows the results from a patient with significant edema that had been present for over 1 year. The circumference of her affected arm at the bicep was 3 to 4 inches larger than the unaffected arm. She had significant reduction within 1 week.
Importance of regular clinical visits.
Figure 2 illustrates the importance of interval checks to readjust the compression. The patient had significant reduction in the size of her arm on the first day of treatment. As a result, the compression had to be readjusted to the proper range for continued improvement. To obtain optimal results, we recommend the compression be readjusted as needed. Adjusting the compression of the ReidSleeve is as simple as taking a blood pressure measurement.
